Cover Oregon and Compassion Clinics
Date: November 18, 2013 – 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Location:  Kell’s Irish Pub, 112 SW 2nd Ave., Portland
With the new health care reform act in practice soon, we are looking into what it means for most of us and how to help those who may still fall through the cracks – the homeless. Liz Baxter, Board Chair for Cover Oregon and Executive Director for Oregon Public Health Institute will tell us about the new health care system. Someone will also be available to assist in signing people up for Cover Oregon and talk about the specifics. Additionally, Milan Homola, Executive Director for Compassion Connect, one of our great partners in fighting human trafficking, will tell us about Compassion Clinics around the metropolitan area that bring churches together to provide medical and dental help, and more, to anyone who walks in.
Liz Baxter is currently the Executive Director of the Oregon Public Health Institute, and Board President for CoverOregon. Liz was Executive Director for The Archimedes Movement, which was a health care awareness and change organization started by Governor Kitzhaber. From there, she became Executive Director for the organizations transition to We Can Do Better. Recently she was appointed as Board Chair for Cover Oregon and has recently started in a new position, Executive Director for Oregon Public Health Institute. Liz has a Masters in Pulbic Health from PSU.
Milan Homola is Executive Director of Compassion Connect. Milan and his wife, Tara, moved to Portland to attend Multnomah University and have since fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest. They came from the midwest. In the fall of 2005, God put it on Milan’s heart to work with Gary Tribbett and Clear Creek Community Church. They had a shared value of seeing the churches work together to serve.
