Our colleagues at the Lund Report published an article about Oregon Legislators using funds from the Tobacco Use Reduction Account to offset a portion of Oregon’s budget deficit. This Account funds the state’s Tobacco Prevention and Education Program, which can count successes in reducing the number of new smokers in Oregon, especially among students in middle and high school, and reductions in tobacco-related illness and death.

You can read the article here and share your thoughts on using funds for prevention and education to fill other deficits in the budget, something happening at the national level as well.
