On Friday Governor Kitzhaber signed SB 1580, approving creation of Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs) in Oregon. The state is seeking a federal waiver that would give federal permission to allow the organization of CCOs and more flexibility in using federal funds for people on Medicaid who will be served through CCOs.

The next step in the process of implementation will be creation of a Rules Advisory Committee to craft the administrative rules that the CCOs will be governed by.
