The power of laughter and music on one’s health was studied by a group of Japanese researchers. They found indications that laughter and music contributed to lower blood pressure. Referring to their results, Dr. Miller, director of preventive cardiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center said,

I think there’s definitely a physiological effect going on, some sort of mind-heart connection.

They aren’t recommending that anyone stop taking their blood pressure medication, but the treatment group that participated in group music and laughter sessions twice a month did much better than the control group.
